Wood Memorial pits Nobiz Like Shobiz against Any Given Saturday |

 Saturday's Grade 1 Wood Memorial Stakes will be the first time Nobiz Like Shobiz will race with blinkers on. Any Given Saturday, beaten a nose by Street Sense in this year's thrilling Tampa Bay Derby, will run instead of Louisiana Derby winner Circular Quay for trainer Todd Pletcher.
Pletcher decided to run Any Given Saturday instead of Circular Quay in the Wood, thinking the latter would need "a little more time" before the Kentucky Derby. Instead of a four-week layoff, 'Quay will now get eight weeks of training.
Nobiz Like Shobiz was a beaten favorite in the Fountain of Youth Stakes, finishing only a half length behind the head-to-head exacta.
Cowtown Cat, winner of a slow Gotham Stakes over third-placing favorite Summer Doldrums, was also entered by Pletcher, but will probably be scratched over to Saturday's Illinois Derby at Hawthorne.
Rick Violette trainee Summer Doldrums, winner of the Whirlaway by 5 1/4 lengths, will be looking to restore his reputation in the Wood. After taking third in this year's slow Gotham Stakes at Aqueduct, his Beyer Speed Figure for the Whirlaway was reduced from 104 to 96.
