Edgar Prado will be on board Songster for the colt's four-year-old debut in Belmont's Grade 3, $100,000, six-furlong Bold Ruler Handicap on Staurday. Songster, the winner of last year's Grade 3 Hirsch Jacobs at Pimlico, and Grade 2 Woody Stephens Breeders’ Cup at Belmont, has not raced since August 2006. Songster lost his last two starts of 2006, beaten by longshot Court Folly in the Grade 2 Amsterdam, and placing 5th in the Grade 1 King's Bishop (both at Saratoga). Five will contest the Bold Ruler Handicap on Saturday.
Among Songster's foes are Anew, winner of the Grade 2 True North. John Velazquez will ride. Richard Dutrow Jr. will saddle Dark Cheetah, and Tony Dutrow will send Dashboard Drummer.
