Saturday's Grade 3 Arlington Classic is a 1 1/16 mile contest over Arlington Park’s turf course. Steve Asmussen will run Beta Capo, winner of Lone Star's Grand Prairi Turf Challenge. Local trainer Jimmy Divito will saddle Pirate Saint, the longshot who sunk Arlington's Shecky Greene on opening day.
The Arlington Classic is the first leg of the 2007 Mid-America Triple. The grass series restricted to sophomores continues with the Grade 2 American Derby at a mile and three-sixteenths on July 21, and concludes with the Grade 1 Secretariat at a mile and a quarter Aug. 11.
