Corinthian has defeated Belmont Stakes winner Jazil twice before. On the 2006 Derby trail, Corinthian left Jazil behind in an Allowance and in the Fountain of Youth Stakes--an event where Corinthian was disqualified from first and placed third for interference.
The Fountain of Youth Stakes left Corinthian with a hairline fracture, and he's placed third in his only start since (July at Saratoga). After winning the 2006 Belmont Stakes, Jazil recuperated from a bruised cannon bone before returning in January of 2007, and placed second by 2 1/4 lengths to Take The Bluff's wire-to-wire win in a second-level Allowance race at Aqueduct.
