Einstein, who won the Gulfstream Park Breeders Cup Turf Handicap last year, is back to defend the title on Saturday. Now bet your friends which one of you can guess how many horses Todd pletcher will run in the 1 3/8 mile contest.
Einstein--trained by Helen Pitts-- has placed fourth in his last three races, including his 2007 debut (after a nine month layoff).
Trainer Todd Pletcher is running Honey Ryder and Ramazutti in the Gulfstream Park BC Handicap, and wisely decided to run English Channel in an Allowance scheduled for Thursday (Feb 22) instead.
Honey Ryder finished 2006 with a third place in the Breeders Cup Filly and Mare Turf Championship. Ramazutti had no wins in ten 2006 starts, but won his first graded stakes at Gulfstream Park in January in the Grade II Mac Diarmida. (Anthony Sciametta Jr. was the substituting trainer while Pletcher was serving a 45-day suspension).
