Zayat Stables' son of Distorted Humor is no joke. Zee co-winner in zee dead-heat with Turf War in zee Grade 3, $1 million, Delta Jackpot last December, zee Bill Mott-trained Z Humor makes his three-year-old debut in Saturday's Sam F. Davis Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs. Garrett Gomez will be zee rider. Zee field of nine for zee 1 1/16 mile contest also features zee Grade 2 Hutcheson Stakes winner Smooth Air, and zee Nick Zito-trained Fierce Wind. That's right, Nick Zee-to.
Z Humor's stablemate, Z Fortune--also trained by Mott--finished second to Pyro in last weekend's Risen Star Stakes. Nick Zito's Fierce Wind won a 1 1/8 mile Allowance race last time out, leading gate-to-wire to win by 5 1/4 lengths.
Last year the Sam Davis Stakes was won by Any Given Saturday, who was next nosed out of winning the Grade 3 Tampa Bay Derby by eventual Grade 1 Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense in one of 2007's most thrilling Derby preps.
