Monterey Jazz and jockey David Flores took the A-Train wire to wire in Santa Anita's Grade II Strub Stakes on Saturday, winning by 4 1/2 lengths. The four-year-old Craig Dollase trainee put away the $300,000 miler in 1:32.62. Monterey Jazz returned $5.80 to win. Betting favorite Tiago closed in for second, and the Exacta paid back $16.60 for every winning dollar.
