English Channel nearly sets world record Print E-mail
Written by Gohorsepower.com

In a 1 1/8 mile allowance at Gulfstream Park on Thursday, English Channel beat the track record by 0.18 and nearly broke the world record set by Kostroma at Santa Anita in 1991.
English Channel won three Grade I races in 2006, but finished third in the Breeders Cup Turf. Although targeted for the Canadian Turf , trainer Todd Pletcher dropped the horse into this allowance field after the son of Smart Strike lost training time to a respiratory problem.
