Lone StarBob and John pressed a pace-setting Jonesboro in a muddy renewal of the Grade 3 Lone Star Park Handicap, emerging victorious in a stretch duel with fellow mud master Sweetnorthernsaint. The 1 1/16 miles was completed in 1:45.02, with Bob and John winning by a neck for trainer Bob Baffert. Garrett Gomez was the winning rider. Sweetnorthernsaint finished 6 3/4 lengths in front of a faded, third-place Jonesboro.

Five entries were reduced to only four when Silent Pleasure bowed out. Jonesboro eagerly took the lead, with Bob and John taking second from three wide, forcing Sweetnorthernsaint to cruise in third from four-wide around the first turn. When 'Saint made his bid from the second turn he was still about as wide, and just missed. Real Dandy was never a factor, and trailed thoughout.

The winner paid $4.80, with the $2 exacta paying $7.40.
